You've got your degree now, but you're not sure of the
next step, or maybe you're not convinced it's even in the
right field. Or you're reasonably happy with the career
choices you've made, but you're not sure how to manage
your career successfully. You're walking a dark path in
the fog; you know others have made it through the
darkness, but do you have what it takes to do the same?
Can you really imagine yourself spending years building a
career in the field you've chosen? Or perhaps, the career
is one that circumstances or the opinions of other have
chosen for you. It may be a major that you just drifted
into, or that was recommended to you by a professor or
family member. Maybe you've taken a job in that field and
you're wondering if you're stuck now forever. Or you've
completed your schooling or terminated it, and are
working at a "place-holder" job while you try and decide
what you're going to do with your life.
Coaching can help you decide what you really need to do
to be true to who you really are, whether it be continue
on your current career path and seek to build meaning and
fulfillment there, move onto a new and exciting career
path, or go back for additional education to supplement
the training you've already obtained. Your coach can help
you define goals, and help you develop and follow a plan
for accomplishing them. Changing directions doesn't
necessarily mean you need to throw away everything you've
done so far; your coach can help you identify
transferable skills and accomplishments that can become
real assets as you build your new career! I've started
three wonderful careers in my life, and know that I would
have benefitted from coaching during these critical
transition periods. As a result, I have a real passion
for helping people like yourself negotiate the paths of
change!
